Ex-bodyguard, now hidalgo farmer and rancher
Geronimo Cuevas is a native of Spain and a former soldier in the army of the ill-fated Second Republic. Before the Civil War, he worked undercover inside right-wing anti-government groups. As the war broke out, he was forced to flee Spain in danger of his life.
Geronimo’s younger brother, Rodolfo, was murdered by the Guardia during the early stages of the war.
In 1938 while on a trip to India, he married Ruby Fitzgibbons and moved with her to the San Gabriel Valley in California, where he happily maintains a small ranch and works as a veterinarian in the region. They have two children, Rodolfo and Charlotte.
